As a Chartered Practitioner with many years experience in a wide variety of roles, you can be assured that the support and advice provided by Gary Smith of Prosper Health and Safety Solutions, is of the highest quality. Provided services can be a one off visit or, on an annual retained service dependant on your needs. Clients choosing a retained service are offered discounts in other areas.

Services offered include:

  • Health and Safety Training

Employers should provide training to their staff from their very first day at work in the form of induction, this and a whole array of training is available (click on the ‘Training’ tab for full details). We can bring the trainer to you, this not only reduces costs in facility expenditure, but also in terms of travel and time away from work. Courses are in house and can be made bespoke to your specific organisation.

  • Health and Safety Policy

Policy

If you employ 5 or more, a written Policy is an essential requirement. It should spell out your Company’s arrangements for dealing with its statutory obligations. It also helps strengthen assurance to your clients and key stakeholders that you are taking your health and safety responsibility seriously.

We can either review and amend your existing Policy or, provide you with a comprehensive and comprehensible new one, to include all your management systems.

  • Hazard and Risk Assessment

Again a statutory requirement, a ‘competent person’ is required to produce documented assessments of risks. Assessments may be either general activities or areas or, more specific such as fire, manual handling, display screen equipment and training. We can provide a complete review of existing assessments or, produce new ones as required.

  • Health and Safety Auditing

Auditing has long been established as an acceptable way of measuring systems, the HSE fully support auditing as a way of demonstrating compliance and, best practice. We can either deliver a completely independent audit of your organisation in its current condition, which will provide you with a picture of your present position or, we can help to improve on existing audit systems, backed up with the relevant training to enable your staff to continue the process forward.

We also provide simple workplace inspections for a less formal proactive way of measuring performance.

All audit and inspection results are prepared in a formal report format and, where required, can be supported by an agreed action plan.

  • Appointed Health and Safety Advisor / Competent Person Service

It is often more cost effective for smaller businesses to ‘buy in’ required advisors when they are needed, rather than employ somebody directly. Either way the designated person must be competent in the field of Occupational Health and Safety.

  • Accident / Incident investigation (including liaison with enforcing authorities)

Money Problems
We can provide a full independent investigation service following either of these events, to include where required, interviews, photographs, representation to third parties and, a full report of the findings including recommendations to prevent recurrence. This reactive service is about preventing recurrence, not appointing blame.

  • Fire Risk Management (including Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans)

Fire inspections, risk assessments, and action plans are all available either as a one off event or, to develop existing systems for your business to take forward.

  • Tendering Support (including contractor appraisal)

When tendering for business some smaller organisations struggle to deal with often high and sometimes generic expectations from their prospective clients, let us help you formulate a tendering ‘pack’ or otherwise meet the full expectations of your clients.

Equally, if you are looking to employ on a contract basis, we can help with the appraisal process to ensure you get the most reliable and professional service available.

Whatever your needs, large or small, we’re here to help with good practical solution based advice on all aspects of health or safety legislation.

  • Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Ergonomics

Policy
Whether it’s a large open plan, or a smaller individual office, the overall design and workstation layout are of utmost importance when considering health issues associated with using DSE, for example musculoskeletal disorders (or repetitive strain injury as it’s sometimes known).

We can provide good practical advice to maximise available space and minimise the likelihood of related ill health amongst your staff, resulting in raised morale and in turn, greater productivity.

  • Telephone and e-mail Support

Advice can be given by means of telephone or electronically as preferred, either on an ad hoc basis or more regularly as needed. Prompt support may also be required following a workplace accident or incident.
